Interim Roles Made Permanent in Lorain

Dr. Shauna Matelski has been named President and CEO at Lorain County Community Action Agency after serving as Acting CEO since early December.

When Matelski was elevated, Stefanie Drew was made Acting Head Start Director. Her appointment has also been made permanent.

Matelski served as Head Start Director from October 2011 until her appointment as Acting CEO. She has more than 30 years’ experience with the agency in early childhood education. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and is sought out for her expertise in early learning and child development.

“I appreciate the board’s confidence and look forward to continuing the great work LCCAA has done for nearly 60 years,” Matelski said.

The two appointments allowed for a seamless transition as long-time CEO Jackie Boehnlein departed late last year.

“Dr. Matelski has done a tremendous job leading the agency,” said Board Chair Gerald Pippens. “We are grateful for her deep experience and dedication to serving Lorain County.”

“I have been honored to know Stefanie for many years and she is the perfect choice to lead the program she cares so much about,” Matelski said.

Drew served as Assistant Director under Matelski but has held various roles in the LCCAA Head Start program for 30 years. She remains a passionate advocate for early childhood education.

“Head Start works and there are thousands of success stories that prove that,” Drew said. “I’m grateful and proud to lead a wonderful team.”
